FlashMob Supercomputing was my Master's thesis at USF. We invited the general public to bring their computers and laptops and we wired them all up in one day to try to create a single tightly coupled supercomputer fast enough to break into the top 500 supercomputers. We had 750 participants and it was a whole lot of fun -- plus some really interesting data on heterogeneous supercomputing.
It was the last project I did before I started Prosper.
