Software Engineer at CU Direct Connect
Greater Denver Area
Over the years I have worked for various corporations using different technologies for a wide range of business ventures. I am well versed in both Microsoft and open-source technologies. My view is that the use of technology is a means to an end: succeeding. Keeping an open mind to all available solutions allows one to make more clear and knowledgeable decisions, which is why I enjoy learning and using different tools, for both clients and my own interests.
During these past years, I have gained immeasurable experience as a Senior/Lead Software Engineer/Architect in the ever-changing climate of the technology world. In conclusion, I understand what it takes to design, build and implement projects at various levels and objectives. I work well in team situations or independent projects, and feel I would be a strong asset in any position.

February 2006 — October 2008 (2 years 9 months)
I was the lead in bringing a team up to speed with new technologies for upcoming projects. I lead development for web and other applications in .NET (C#), domain and hosting management, disaster recovery planning, source control management using Subversion.
The majority of our web and other applications were built using Castle MonoRail, nVelocity, Castle Windsor, NUnit (test driven design) and continuous integration using TeamCity. For disparate data sources, we used IBatis.NET. For new databases we architected ourselves, we used NHibernate. I was also responsible for researching and selecting new technologies (we were in the process of adopting WCF and NServiceBus and other SOA solutions).

December 2005 — May 2007 (1 year 6 months)
Darrell Kauthen, a former co-worker from Quovadx, joined Fresenius Medical Care as their Director of Development in mid-2004. He approached me in late 2005 to see if I could help his development team with a web-based touch screen application they were creating for their kidney dialysis clinics spread out across North America.
I was their primary user interface developer. I worked heavily in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSP, Java, Struts, Tiles and Taglibs. The platform architecture included Ant, Ajax, FOP, Hibernate, JavaMail, JUnit, Spring, Velocity, oc4j, Oracle (database server) and XDoclet.

I was responsible for in-sourcing and rewriting an e-commerce platform that was originally developed and maintained by an outsourced vendor. The legacy platform technologies included ASP, Commerce Server, SQL Server, and .NET (both C# and VB.NET). The new framework (pure .NET/C#) technology stack included Castle MonoRail, Windsor and portions of Enterprise Library.
My tremendous amount of responsibility at Orange Glo truly highlights my ability to handle multiple tasks and utilize a wide range of skill sets. My bi-yearly review documents are available upon request.
In February 2006, the company was purchased by Church & Dwight, who immediately hired me as a contractor to continue maintaining their applications and systems as needed.
A letter of recommendation is also available upon request.

June 2001 — November 2003 (2 years 6 months)
At Quovadx, I worked with development teams on various projects. My position required highly adaptive skill sets, as I had many projects and responsibilities. On some projects, I was designated as the only web designer. For example, I solely developed the entire user interface for a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan patient care application.
Research and development was also one of my strongest skills with this company. I developed many solutions and approaches that have helped both clients and internal departments. Clients I worked directly with included Sony, Healthnet, Cigna, Aetna, MedUnite and ProPath.
My utilized skills included XML, XSLT, XSP, HXML, Oracle, PHP, MySQL, Tomcat, WebLogic, Java, CVS, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Linux, Solaris, graphic design and extensive research and development.
I was let go due to a reduction in work force. A letter of recommendation is available upon request.

March 2001 — June 2001 (4 months)
I worked directly with various clients, primarily transportation department government agencies, to estimate time, develop, debug, and deploy large-scale web applications. The majority of my time at FCG was spent maintaining and adding new functionality to the New Mexico State Highway Transportation Department intranet. I also worked on a Visual Basic driver that communicated with highway vehicle speed monitors via a COM port. I also did some customization and integration with ArchIMS mapping software. The main technologies I used at FCG were ASP, IIS, Visual Basic, SQL Server, HTML and JavaScript.
(Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Information Technology and Services industry)
January 2000 — March 2001 (1 year 3 months)
I worked with a web development team on various projects, such as a corporate website, a business-to-business e-commerce website and a business-to-consumer marketing website.
A product we developed, NurseryTools, provided web-based marketing solutions to the garden industry. We used Java, JSP, Oracle, XML, XSL, Apache, and Linux to create NurseryTools.
In my position, I worked extensively with HTML, JavaScript, JSP, Linux and XSL. One of my greatest accomplishments was learning and developing with FOP, which was used to generate Adobe PDF documents using XML and XSL.
The company closed due to depletion of funds. A letter of recommendation is available upon request.
