Tech Writer / Developer
San Francisco Bay Area
I write about new programming tools, enterprise architectures, microprocessor designs, and a variety of other emerging technologies, primarily from the developer's perspective. I specialize in code walkthroughs and demonstrations using soon-to-be or just-released tools. An updated list of published articles can be found at http://www.justinwhitney.com.
In addition to writing instructional material for the Developer / IT sector, I have documented internally developed applications, both on a source code level for IT use and in the form of User Guides and Help Files for general users.
In my capacity as Instructional Game Designer, I've written numerous design specs, as well as project proposals, executive summaries, marketing copy, and creative web content, for example backstory for an interactive video or adventure game.
Most recently, I have been developing several promotional and creative videos. Published examples can be found on my website, with several more projects on the way.
Technical Skills: developer IDEs, databases (SQL Server, MySQL, DB2, Access); compiled, scripted, and markup languages (C#, VB.NET, Java, PHP, Javascript, ASP.NET, HTML, CSS); interactive platforms and methodologies (Flash, Silverlight, AJAX)
As a veteran programmer, I'm especially adept at picking up new technologies quickly, then translating deep technical information for multiple audiences and levels of experience, from beginner to advanced, and from developer to executive.
