Prior to joining Care2, I was involved in several socially entrepreneurial startups, including a small human rights nonprofit in Congo http://www.afriqueprofonde.org, a consulting firm for democratic businesses, and a wilderness solo guiding service. One of my favorite projects was helping record an album for these kids from a Township near Cape Town, SA: http://www.abavuki.com. I also co-authored a book published by the National Defense University on leveraging networks to shorten the time-information gap in high stakes and high-pressure situations. In addition to several years in water resource management for the State of Colorado, and a stint as an organic farmer and musician, I have a background in international development, as well as an MBA from the University of Colorado with a focus on marketing and organizational development. In 2008, my wife and I launched Olomomo Nut Company (under the name Spice). http://www.olomomo.com. Olomomo is a growing business in Boulder, CO providing all natural and organic roasted nuts designed to go with coffee.

I work with nonprofits to help them grow using the internet. Care2.com has an online community of over 11 million people interested in social and environmental causes. I help nonprofits place their issues in front of our audience, and in the process, help them grow targeted email lists of supporters, activists and potential donors. I specialize in working with nonprofits that promote International Development, Peace and Alternative Energy, as well as with PR and full-service marketing agencies who represent nonprofits. Care2 has helped over 425 nonprofits grow their email lists and constituent base by recruiting millions of people from the Care2 community over the past several years. For more info: http://www.frogloop.com/nonprofit-services . My team and I also frequently speak at conferences, seminars, and give free, private consulting about nonprofit online marketing, email marketing, social network marketing, and multi-channel marketing.

Olomomo Nut Company (formerly "Spice") started out as a crazy little side gig small business selling my artisan, small batch nuts at local weekend farmers markets in Colorado. After selling nearly 4,000 bags of spiced, roasted nuts in six months, and tying for second place in a new business idea pitch contest at a major natural foods industry conference (one of the judges was founder of Izze Beverages), I'm looking into scaling this as a wholesale business through coffee shops and creating a new concept - nuts designed to go with coffee.
We recently won first place of 76 businesses for the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship annual statewide business plan contest in Colorado last June. Since then, we have sold thousands more and started wholesale to several coffee shops around the state.

Scaled up a nice little organic produce business my big bro started after college in Boulder, Colorado. Rose up from weeder, to pea picker, to wicked fast sweet corn harvester, to master sales guy, to owner of my own branch of the "franchise". Though much disputed by big bro, I'll still claim to have passed him up in sales and customer service ;). Expanded to a couple of new markets and grew the brand. $70,000 in revenues over 6 months ain't too shabby for a 24-year with a couple pick-up trucks and a couple farmers market stands, eh? Wish I would have invested some of that in Google, but hey, the 4-month trip to Brazil that winter sure was nice...

Made Deans List and was one of youngest students accepted to Hybrid Electric Vehicle team, but decided to take a year off to pursue my dream of skiing Moguls in the Olympics. Made top 200 mogul skiers in the country, but felt pull back to school. Opened up a can of worms, transferred to Principia College, studied liberal arts, the rest is history... and I got a History major. Hmmm... if only I had stuck with designing Hybrid Electric vehicles... oopsie!
