Julie Trelstad is Founder and Publisher of Plain White Press of White Plains, NY, a laboratory for publishing ideas.
Plain White Press publishes illustrated non-fiction books, journals, and boxed kits that help busy women simplify some aspects of their busy lives. The press markets books through social media, and explores ways to use new publishing technologies and techniques to produce, market, and sell books within our highly visual and interactive culture. Named a Make-Mine-a-Million micro winner in 2006, the Press also provides innovative book packaging, marketing, and publishing services.
Before founding Plain White Press, Julie spent 15 years as an acquisitions editor, primarily acquiring books on the subjects of architecture, home design, construction, and general how-to. Publishers she has worked for include Sterling Publishing, John Wiley & Sons, Reader's Digest, and the Taunton Press. Notable acquisitions include the original Not-so-Big House by Sarah Susanka, and a new edition of Architectural Graphic Standards.
