Julian Chan’s Summary
Freelance saxophonist/flutist from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia but currently based in New York, USA. Plays various styles of music from jazz, pop to even rock. Played with several jazz bands in Malaysia two of which are bands I have formed) as well as other non-jazz bands for concerts, stage shows, events, functions, and club dates.
Performed in various jazz festivals in Malaysia such as Philips International Jazz Fest, Sunrise-Mont Kiara Jazz Fest, Kuching Int'l Jazz Fest, Fete De La Musique, Johor Bahru Arts Fest, Genting Int'l Jazz Fest, Miri Int'l Jazz Fest, Penang Int'l Jazz Fest, as well as some foreign jazz festivals such as Java Jazz Fest (Indonesia) and Chijmes Jazz Fest (Singapore).
Always interested in various session jobs ranging from recordings, musicals, stage shows, concerts, club dates, etc. Will look forward to joining working bands that can get involved with local and international touring.

- a fusion-based jazz band playing more contemporary jazz repertoire from Yellowjackets, John Scofield, Stanley Clarke, and others. Consists of saxophone/flute, trumpet/flugelhorn, keyboards/piano, drums and electric bass.
2) Boplicity
- a mainstream-jazz/hardbop/bebop based band playing hardbop based repertoire from the 50s to present. Typical "Blue Note"-styled band, two horns (sax and trumpet) with acoustic jazz rhythm section. Played selections of material from Jackie McLean, Art Blakey, John Scofield, Stanley Turrentine and more.
