J. Trent Adams is a technologist, product strategist, and futurist focused on digital identity. His experience spans pioneering digital production to running highly trafficked community portals and e-commerce engines, to supporting various specification, standards, and advocacy communities.
As an Outreach Specialist at the non-profit Internet Society, Adams helps build relationships with technologists and developers and collaborate on tools and documents to communicate key issues related to trust and identity.
Prior to working for ISOC, Adams founded MatchMine, a 43-person media recommendation company, filing 3 patents on the technology. The system he designed was a uniquely portable, personalized, consumer-controlled, privacy-respecting recommendation system. He incubated the idea while working as Chief Innovator for the Kraft Group Sports Properties.
At KGSP, Adams was in charge of the online properties for the New England Patriots, Revolution, and Gillette Stadium including websites, community portals, and e-commerce. He designed and managed a comprehensive online strategy, unifying over 40 KGSP properties.
He began work with KGSP producing the first of its kind direct-to-digital video show. By 2005 he was executive producer of over 74 hours of digital media a week. This included three on-demand video series, daily live video programming, 12 hours of live audio programming, various podcasts and other digital syndication channels.
Adams has also been an Information Architect and was a digital effects designer for television and advertising. He earned his degree in astronomy, with minors in physics and computer science as well as a correlate in film from Vassar College in New York.
He is an officer of the DataPortability Project, a member of Liberty Alliance, contributor to Project VRM, and participant in the semantic web community. He has spoken at the Web 2.0, Web 3.0, OMMA, and FastForward conferences.
