    • Supervised the execution of all events during the December 2003 visit of HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson and his hundred-person delegation to Rwanda. Coordinated between the local U.S. Embassy and the Rwandan government. As a result of these efforts, when the delegation was disrupted by a terrorism scare on the final evening, it was able to smoothly transition to an alternate plan via Uganda.

    • Served as Secretarial advance man to six nations in Africa — South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Ethiopia — to conduct on-the-spot assessments of hotels, sites, and facilities in October 2003.

As a consequence, the battalion modified its deployment plan in a manner that resulted in a successful deployment, with all equipment, to the area of operations.

    • Volunteered to take charge of 3rd Platoon, B Company, 46th Engineer Battalion for the duration of its deployment to Nicaragua in 1998-1999. Under my command, the platoon successfully executed missions ranging from culvert repair in rural areas to the construction of a bridge across the river at Pueblo Nuevo.
