I am a former U.S. Marine and Naval Officer with a degree in Control Systems Engineering, a great deal of experience in applied engineering and finance, and a talent for getting things done.
Some highlights:
- Served as an enlisted Marine for three years before receiving an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1991, where I studied engineering and raced sailboats offshore.
- Accepted a U.S. Navy commission in 1995, and served with distinction aboard a variety of surface ships and shore stations, mostly in the Far East and the Persian Gulf, until resigning my commission in 2000.

Nova Navigation was engaged in the pure-research phase of a project aimed at producing a viable pulsar-based alternative to the Global Positioning System. Some highlights:
- Developed a number of novel theoretical approaches to the detection and timing of very weak, periodic signals cloaked in high levels of background noise.
- Developed and implemented software platforms to simulate and test these approaches in the laboratory.
- Developed and built hardware platforms to test these approaches in both laboratory and field conditions.
- Primary tools included MatLab, Mathematica, SQL Server, and sensors and signal conditioning hardware from various sources.
