In little league I batted last, but they gave me a trophy anyway. Engraved on the plaque were the letters "G.W.", which stood for George Washington. In the final game of the season, I had swung at a wildly high ball (I swung at everything, which is why I batted last) and managed to nick the thing, way over my head, with the tip of my bat. The fielder's confusion due to the unlikeliness of my hit gave my team enough time to score a run and win the game. From then on they all called me G.W. Evidently my high swing reminded them of the story of George Washington chopping down a cherry tree.
