Jose Luiz Moutinho’s Summary

Biology Degree and B.S. in Zoology at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1981); Architecture Degree at Santa Úrsula University in Rio de Janeiro (1988); Equivalence granted to Portuguese qualifications by the Faculty of Architecture, Technical University of Lisbon; MSc. in Engineering Policy and Management of Technology at IN+ Center for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research (Dissertation: Digital Cities and the Challenges for a Knowledge Based View of the Territory: Evidence from Portugal), IST - Instituto Superior Técnico, Techincal University of Lisbon (2005); PhD. Student in Design at the Faculty of Architecture, Technical University of Lisbon (Research Domain: Public Policies and Public Libraries). As a biologist, José Luiz Moutinho made extensive research on plant taxonomy at Herbarium Bradeanum, Botanical Garden, Rio de Janeiro (1978-1982) and published several new species of orchids and bromeliads, being honored with a orchid named after him, Maxilaria moutinii. As an architect, he studied and practiced sustainable architecture in Portugal, Brazil, Albania and Spain (1983-1995). In 1995, he founded the first Portuguese Internet company, called Tinta Invisível, that became one leading companies in its market. In 2001, Tinta Invisível merged with several other Latin American Internet companies to create Neoris, a company currently 100% owned by Cemex, one of the leading cement companies in the world. In 2007, he founded Mirror Neurons, a company specialized in innovation, research and develpoment in the service sector. He currently provides strategic consulting services and scientific advice to both public and private sector.
