Sr. Product Manager, Symantec
Greater New York City Area
I began by working as an engineer on a product called "NetBackup" at Veritas after getting a Computer Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. Went back to business school for an MBA and moved in to Product Management at Symantec to support startup products around the core NetBackup line. On the side I have started two companies. The first is a radio program that amassed a small loyal base of 30,000 listeners for instrumental music and is still broadcast on public radio in Minneapolis with an accompanying podcast. The second company is "Bespoke Web Apps" and builds custom web applications like e-commerce, social networks, information tools and checkout systems. I've lived and worked in Minneapolis, San Francisco/Mountain View and now New York. All while working with other engineering teams in those locations as well as India, China and London with sales groups in every major city. I'm generally interested in new software technology and emerging markets.
Relationship and partner management with customers, sales and partners. Web technology and design: especially the LAMP stack of Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP. Storage hardware, software, and data protection. International go to market, branding, competitive analysis, product management, marketing and product strategy.
