Largely a boutique operation, I use this banner to help small businesses, sometimes very small independent contractors, navigate the online publishing minefield with practical, honest and clear guidance.

Focussed on usability, standards compliance, accessibility, semantically structured documents, findability and SEO-friendly environments, I guide the client through their online journey and give them an economical and tailored solution to their business.

Freedom to create their own content, but guided by the business needs, they flourish under this practical and dedicated consultancy.

  • Technology Director

    Hoop Associates

    April 2004August 2008 (4 years 5 months)

I oversaw all technology deployed across the studio & delivered to clients & led the web dev team through standards-compliant, user-centred, user-friendly, and accessible website projects.

I worked at all stages of the development cycle, from ideas, research, and strategy; through scope, architecture, design & development; to deployment, testing & metrics. A champion of User Centred Design (UCD) and web standards as defined by the Web Standards Project, I creatively proved the case to clients that good usability & standards-compliance is also good business practice. I made sure all technology deployed was fit for purpose.

I was instrumental in dispelling a client’s fear of technology by providing a human-centred, best fit solution to each of the challenges defined in a project's strategy. I sat between technology and deployment, channeling knowledge, securing efficient delivery & providing inspirational oversight. Large parts of Hoop's production depended on my technical lead.
