Jon is an all-purpose communications coordination and consultation expert in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He is also the lead on LinkedIn presentations for the company, training organizations of all sizes and employees of all titles on proper usage of the business networking platform.

Throughout my time with the Free Press, I have prepared special feature and business spotlight stories, including events such as the Wonderful Wedding Show and previews such as the Destination Manitoba guide. Occasionally would be given photography assignments as well. (Currently in second term working with the Free Press. Previous term was June 2005 to April 2008.)
I have been contracted for three books with ECW Press.
The first book, "SLAM! Wrestling: Shocking Stories from the Squared Circle", published in November 2009, and enjoyed a week on the best-seller (non-fiction, softcover) list at McNally Robinson.
The second book, "Got'em, Got'em, Need'em", published in April 2011 and reached number two on McNally Robinson's non-fiction, softcover list. It has also been extensively covered in local and North American media.
My third book, "He Shoots, He Saves" focuses on hockey memorabilia and releases in February 2015.
Since March 2010 I have been writing articles on a freelance basis for Beckett Media, either in magazines (primarily Beckett Hockey) or their website.
In June 2010, I began working as a hockey card market analyst, helping build Beckett's database of checklists and supplying pricing information.
Since coming on board as a card-back biography writer, I have worked in numerous capacities for Topps and their WWE products, including checklist assembly, set development, photo selection and other responsibilities.
Most recently, I have added media relations duties to my portfolio with Topps.
Organizations I have worked with include newspaper, magazine and online media publishers (including consumer and trade publications), university research groups, performers and private entities.
Work for these organizations includes content creation, copy editing, media relations (including press release creation and interview arrangement), communication strategy development, product development, event coordination, photography.
My work at SLAM! over the last 10 years has included writing articles of the following nature:

I have also served as Editor since 2003, which has included copy and photo editing, article assignment, organization relations and other duties.
I have volunteered for the Sports Dinner, which benefits programming and member needs for the Rose and Max Rady Jewish Community Centre. I have served on the Auction Committee (currently co-chair) and general committee since 2005, growing my role each year and helping recruit new committee members.
Since 2005 I have written for Studio's magazines, primarily for Winnipeg Men but also Winnipeg Women, Marketplace Magazine and Urbanite. My stories have included topics such as yoga for men, Internet fraud, cycling in Winnipeg and profiles, including Manitoba Moose General Manager Craig Heisinger.
Various marketing duties, including preparing position overviews, design, presentation preparation, event coordination etc.
Beginning in September annually, I prepared media releases, speeches, advertisements and other related material for Volunteer Manitoba's annual awards banquet. The banquet takes place annually towards the end of April.
As Communications Coordinator, my baseline duties involved the dispurtion of information to media, the Winnipeg Jewish community, the Winnipeg general community and sister Federations in Canada and the U.S. This includes items such as news and feature pieces on our website, press releases, letters to constituents (either to targeted or broadbased groups), our honour roll/annual report and other forms. Other general duties include speech writing, photography, liaising with media, government and volunteers and other duties.
More recently, I was getting deeper into program coordination. This includes the Kavod Evening (volunteer recognition ceremony) and memorial services.
I copy-edited publications for Wellington West, including newsletters and other documents either for internal or external distribution.
I edited magazines for the company's various clientele, whose industries included medicine, mining, construction, education, emergency services and various others.
Duties included writing, copy editing, layout, design, photograph, graphic and other image editing/creation, web design and others.
Since departing from Matrix, I have continued to occasionally contribute on a freelance basis to some publications.
The Infertility Awareness Association of Canada is a support network for couples going through and overcoming barriers to conception.
In January 2014, I completed work on FC WoodWorks' new website. Work on the site included:
- Redesign of the layout with Hep Communications Designer Arnold Lontajo
- Content generation with our client
- Photo editing and selection.
The new website reflects the uniqueness of FC WoodWorks' capabilities, which includes custom cabinetry, countertops, wall adornment and other facets. Their work is absolutely stunning and I would readily endorse their services to anyone who is looking to give their office, commercial or industrial space a new look.
