Over the past decade, Jon has been at the forefront of the Internet community’s legal battle against online fraud. Using technical investigative tools and legal techniques developed in-house, Jon has tracked, identified and sued hundreds of online fraudsters on behalf of corporate victims. Along the way, he has recovered millions of dollars for his clients and has helped shape the law governing online fraud. His litigation victories include: Verizon Online v. Ralsky, 203 F. Supp. 2d 601 (E.D. Va. 2002); Aitken v. CWA, 496 F. Supp. 2d 653 (E.D. Va. 2007); and America Online v. CEN, Cause #99-1186A (E.D. Va., March 22, 2001 slip opinion) (applying tort theory of negligent hiring and retention to hold an adult-content website responsible for the illegal advertising practices of its affiliate advertisers).
In addition to his private practice, Jon has substantial government service in all three branches of government, having served as Chief Counsel to a U.S. House subcommittee, as a law clerk for then-U.S. District Court Judge John D. Tinder (now elevated to 7th Circuit) and Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard, and as a Governor's Fellow to Indiana Governor Robert D. Orr.
Jon received his law degree from Yale Law School in 1989, and his B.A. in political science from Northwestern University in 1986, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
Jon is admitted to the bars of Washington, D.C., Virginia, Indiana and California (inactive).
