Jon Gosier is a globally recognized serial tech entrepreneur, investor, and philanthropist. He is increasingly recognized for his work as an angel investor. He has been listed among the ‘Most Influential Blacks in Technology’ by Business Insider 2013 and again in 2014. He’s also been listed among the ‘20 Angel Investors Worth Knowing’ and among the ‘Innovators of the Year 2013’ by Black Enterprise Magazine. He is a TED Senior Fellow and graduate of the THNK School School for Creative Leadership.

He is a partner at Third Cohort Capital, an early stage angel fund started in collaboration with business leaders in the Mid-Atlantic region and at the Appfrica Fund. Prior to becoming an investor Jon was known for his work as Founder and CEO of the drag and drop data-science company, MetaLayer.

Other roles he's held since 2008 include Executive leadership roles at Ushahidi (an organization making data tools for disaster response) QuestionBox (an organization focused on last mile internet accessibility in Asia and Africa) and Market Atlas (which aims to make private equity transactions more transparent and reliable in emerging markets). He went on to found or co-found various companies including civic data firm D8A Group, and the non-profit organizations AfriLabs, HiveColab and Abayima.

    Thomas Phillips Johnson was born on June 8, 1914 in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He attended New Castle public schools before attending Rollins College and graduating in 1934. He then attended Harvard Law School, spent two years as the editor of the Harvard Law Review and graduated from Harvard magna cum laude in 1937.

    In 1982 Rollins College President Thaddeus Seymour presented Johnson with an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws. Johnson contributed one million dollars in 1994 to create the Thomas P. Johnson Distinguished Visiting Scholars Program which invites speakers from across the world to share their knowledge with Rollins College.
