Jonathan is a Ruby on Rails software engineer, specialising in building web-based tools and services that facilitate online conversations about specific topics or brands. More often than not the web applications he develops are integrated with existing communities such as Twitter and Facebook. In the last three years over 50 clients have benefited from his expertise, including startups, small businesses, charities, government institutions and blue chip corporations. More than 50,000 people have used the web applications he has developed.
Jonathan balances the time he spends writing code and creating new user experiences with organising community events, activities and physical spaces. Inspired by movements such as Barcamp and coworking, he’s passionate about facilitating real world conversations between highly skilled technologists and forward thinking business people. He’s worked with 15 globally recognised brands to bring people together in Brighton, London and New York. More than 1000 people have participated in the events and activities he has made happen. In 2008 Jonathan founded a coworking space called The Skiff in central Brighton which has since grown into a 30 person strong multidisciplinary community.
Jonathan is available to advise and participate in the development of your web-based tools and services. He can also facilitate the development of expert communities around specific topics, brands, technologies or regions.
Outside of work Jonathan is planning his wedding with fiancée Anna and enjoys travelling and cooking for friends and family. When he can he spends free time getting out on the water, sailing competitively and for pleasure.
