Executive Manager, e-Community & Online Strategy
Melbourne Area, Australia
Technology is too often a solution in search of a problem. I work the other way around and demonstrate an ability to out-think not outspend competitors.
I'm also passionate about getting a simple message out... Feeding 12 more a day ends starvation in 5.7 years! At the moment I'm behind the Aussie social network at http://buzz.org.au
Regarding my career, I have a track record of success in the internet, marketing, strategy & product development. I’m currently developing online sales and marketing strategies for a not for profit company in the health and finance sector with an annual revenue of $100+ million.
The internet (both wired and unwired) has been a passion of mine for more than a decade, so I'm looking forward to more challenges and success online.
Perhaps more important than work, is my goal to create positive change in the world through technology. Ten years ago I wrote to Bill Gates and the response from his lawyers was that I had to hand over all IP rights to Microsoft before they would consider my ideas to help end starvation. Bizarre!
I believe enabling communities unlocks brand equity and loyalty. Brands are controlled by customers and they should be the heart of your strategy...

Having worked as a volunteer and fundraiser for more than 20 years I pursued a pet project/goal of leveraging internet and mobile communications services to raise funds for global NGOs.
This was an amazing experience! I received dozens of letters of support from Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, Presidents, Prime Ministers, MPs and even members of royalty.
If I ever retire, it will be to pursue this concept further... What a buzz! ...and I help feed starving kids - which is the point of it all!

After getting deeply involved with the Internet in my previous role, I looked forward to the challenge of helping a major brand shape the mobile Internet. This role was focussed on establishing and positioning wireless multimedia services (WAP – the mobile Internet, SMS Games, GPRS and PocketNews) to maximise emerging product revenues by increasing usage of applications and content.
- Managed online and offline marketing responsibilities
- Enhanced product design, testing, and customer usability
- Championed Telstra Mobile wireless multimedia to external and internal customers
- Established communication processes and media to inform customers and channels about service offerings
Commerce, Economics, Marketing
Studied the economics of developing countries as well as urban economics. However my best results were for marketing.
