Short Introduction:
I am a social media enthusiast passionate about connecting consumers with the brands they use. Transparency, communications, and online community building are key areas of interest for me.

As a professional working in the social media field I excel in finding new solutions to old problems. With a background in journalism and online media I work to ensure that the people behind the brands are able to effectively connect and share with their audiences and consumers.
In my role as product manager for PBS Engage, a grant funded initiative to "put the public back in public media" I conceptualized and oversaw the development and lifecycle of a suite of social media products for use on PBS.org, national producer web sites as well as local TV station web sites.

Over the last several years I have started, sold, and spun-off many online and offline business ventures including a perennial plant nursery that shipped thousands of plants across the nation for a year and a half, an online volunteering forum and community, and multiple blogs and community sites.
In addition, I am currently working on Contributr.net a User Generated Content solution for news organizations that simplifies the submission and processing of text, audio, video, images, and more.

As web editor I produced and promoted online content on a daily basis including coordinating breaking news, editing original web-only video, and promoting online products both on-air and online.
As a new-media consultant to KOMU I also researched, planned, and implemented new-media and social-media strategies to enhance online community building and viewer awareness of web properties.

I was the MyFoxKC.com intern for the summer of 2007. Some of my duties included daily writing and editing of content for the web, as well as market research and later design and implementation of a community "Kansas City Pets" web site.
In addition, I covered live and breaking news online via company blogs, discussion boards, and live-chat areas of the web site.
