Jon Beer’s Summary
Born in New Orleans and raised in upstate New York, I have been creative since an early age. I’ve always channeled my creative energies into art ever since I could hold a crayon. That tradition has continued to this day, but the tools of my trade have vastly improved.
I work with traditional fine art and illustration materials as well as today’s digital tools. For the most part, I do work ranging from traditional painting and illustration to graphic and web design. I also believe that by expanding my horizons I open up more doors and enable myself to be more successful with my art and design.
My paintings are influenced by the works of the Surrealists, Impressionists and abstract artists. My work often deals with the creation of ideas and inspiration and the process of translating those ideas into paintings. I am inspired by the work of Roberto Matta, Paul Klee, Rene Magritte, and Jackson Pollock. Contemporary artists such as MARS1, Josh Keyes, Robert Hardgrave and Damon Soule.
In 2006 I enrolled in the School of Visual Arts as an Illustration major. As well as being a full time student, I am a self employed illustrator, graphic and web designer and have worked for a wide variety of clients and managing over 10 websites. My work is exhibited in galleries in New York City and is part of various private collections around the United States.
I am also the cofounder of the Blind Artists Society, as well as a Supporting Artist in the Society.
