Stephen Keaveny (Joi Koi)’s Summary

A visionary, futurist living in Ireland. I am interested in developing virtual worlds to meet social, educational and business needs.

I first experienced moos, mush's and other text based virtual worlds in the early 90's, since then virtual worlds have grown into graphically rich, immersive, environments. The Metaverse is evolving. I joined Second Life in January 2006.

Second Life has got a lot of media coverage lately but it is not the only virtual world. New virtual worlds are appearing weekly. If you need guidance in exploring the business or social possibilities of Second Life or any of these these virtual worlds, feel free to connect with me. stephen@keaveny.org

In Second Life, Kaneva or various locations around the Metaverse you can IM Joi Koi.

Stephen Keaveny (Joi Koi)’s Experience

  • Media Mentor

    Youthreach, Ireland

(Government Agency; 201-500 employees; Primary/Secondary Education industry)

    February 2007Present (1 year 6 months)

Twice a week I teach video expression and drama to young people. Young people who have chosen to opt-out of the conventional education system. Like an extended digital storytelling workshop, it's a wonderful experience to collaborate with these youngsters, share in their creativity and watch them shine. I am enjoying it thoroughly.

Virtual worlds like Second Life have a very useful role to play in the future of education. I am planning to develop a meeting place on the Second Life teen-grid for my students, a 3d space where they can present their digital storytelling projects to others.

  • Founder

    Wiredstory (Self-employed)

(Self-Employed; Myself Only; Media Production industry)

    March 2005Present (3 years 5 months)

Wiredstory is a catch-all for my various online interests, Virtual Worlds e.g. Second Life, Kaneva, HiPiHi, There, Novoking, Vside and Entropia Universe and other Metaverse locations.

It is also a repository for my Domain portfolio which comprises of a few hundred domains, Web2.0 domains, virtual world domains, Metaverse domains, useful for Second Life businesses and multiple use domains, all are for sale or to develop in partnership with the right individual - contact me for details.

Wiredstory has a virtual presence in Second Life. Visit the Gallery on Elysian Island in Second Life. There is also a second Wiredstory presence on the Second Life book island. Other locations are planned around the Metaverse.

Wiredstory was originally setup for my digital storytelling services. While I am involved in digital storytelling projects and I still facilitate digital storytelling workshops it is no longer the focus of my business.
