Grew Linux deployment from <20 servers to over 700 over a five year period, involving conversion of all public-facing services from Solaris/Sparc systems to Linux/Intel.
Managed 5 person/3 FTE team to maintain and extend Linux environment in heavy C/C++/Perl/Python bioinformatics development environment, including provisioning servers, overseeing help desk system, and meeting with users and management to determine requirements for software and hardware.
Planned and led (on-going) migration of environment to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) distribution with goal of minimal end-user disruption and no service downtime.
Planned and led CfEngine deployment to centralize and standardize configuration management and change tracking. Planned and led conversion of CfEngine deployment into cross-platform capable system with RPM update management functionality.

Present lectures in a team-taught introductory-level graduate
bioinformatics course. Starting in 2004, teach a solo
advanced-level graduate course on the BioPerl bioinformatics
toolkit. This course, offered once a year, was developed from
scratch and is designed to give biologists with minimal amounts of
UNIX and Perl experience sufficient exposure to both to be able to
effectively utilize the heavily object-oriented BioPerl framework
to accomplish significant bioinformatics tasks.
