John Reel’s Summary
John grew up in Georgetown, Ontario and has called Guelph his home for the last 9 years, enjoying the progressive mind-set the town has to offer. Being the quintessential entrepreneur, John forewent university and began consulting as soon as he graduated highschool, winning software development contracts easily and being hounded by head-hunters regularly.
John migrated to the Web in 1993, when many companies considered it to be just a fad. By fulfilling his vision to create e-commerce sites that could be edited online, John satisfied his creative drive. These new technologies helped John win web site development contracts with forward-thinking companies and necessitated his formation of the first PHP hosting company.
In 2004 John became obsessed with learning the psychology and techniques of marketing, and then put his acquired skills to the test in July 2006, resulting in earning $300,000 in one week, and being positioned as a "guru" and speaker within the Internet marketing community.
John is best known in that industry for his software, GoTryTHIS, which has helped over 2500 marketers manage their affiliate promotions and make more money.

In July 2006 we launched GoTryTHIS.com, our first mass-marketed software application to the Internet Marketing industry, which went on to win the "Internet marketing product of the year", an industry award. In creating this, several other Internet technologies were invented including a solution for installing web applications called SetupBOT. We are currently pursuing several of these, as well as preparing for the launch of GoTryTHIS 2.

After four years we shut down the hosting company and started the HostItGreen.com initiative to create awareness of other green hosting options.

Reality Bytes was the first adopter of what was to become the most popular scripting language on the web, PHP, and greatly influenced its continued development. For the Olde Hide House, we created one of the first online shopping carts, integrated into their internal inventory system. As well, we designed a system for showcasing houses online, which was pitched directly to bank presidents by ex finance minister, Garth Turner. This was deemed to be years before its time and was shelved when the partners went their separate ways.
