John Miller's Experience
Owner | Creative Director
Freshly Ground Productions, LLC
May 2007 – Present (7 years 5 months) Greater Detroit Area
My work through Freshly Ground Productions is the most diverse experience I've had throughout my career as I shoot a variety of videos of varying styles, lengths and budgets.
Planning out each video I create, I go into a video shoot with shot lists and pre production notes, but I have the quick decision making abilities to shoot on the fly due to the documentary/ENG style shooting I do on a regular basis.
From large crews to small, I can assign and support each person at their job so that I can strategically and systematically execute large projects in the most timely and budget efficient manor to get the job right and within budget.
My work and skills have allowed me to travel Internationally and all over the United States shooting for various clients. Most notably, I worked as a producer for The Henry Ford, field producer for the Ford Motor Company shooting videos for use at their "Ready4" training seminars, Director of Photography for vignettes used for the Dodge Charger web campaign through a local agency.
Other campaigns and clients I've worked for include: General Motors, DTE, Raytheon, The Salvation Army, Pure Michigan Business Connect, and the Detroit Regional Chamber.

While at Raytheon I Produced and Directed both short and long-form videos working with a variety of crew sizes ranging from eight people to just myself. I also was the head producer of a monthly broadcast for General Motors service technicians called Emerging Issues, which combined both a live broadcast and short prepackaged video segments. The broadcast was viewed by an average of 60,000 internal GM technicians.
I was the Writer, Producer and Directer for General Motors Service Know How hour-long videos. The videos I had worked on maintained both high numbers of views and high test scores by the GM service technicians. I also worked on Chrysler's historic MasterTech program in a Producer roll as well as photography and video support.
