I have 9 years of experience leading various online high tech communities, with a focus on hacking, open technology and open source. These communities include SourceForge.net developer foundries, a variety of communities I scouted to recruit book authors, and the sysadmin community served by Hyperic, which is my current gig. I possess a fundamental understanding of how to reach different groups, and how the approach differs with respect to each community.
My personal interest includes the economic trends currently fueling the open source and free culture movement. In particular, I wrote an article published in onlamp.com all about open source macro-economics and why the current open source ecosystem not only exists, but will continue its rapid expansion. You can find that article here: http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2006/01/12/no_oss_community.html
