John G. Self founded JohnMarch Partners in 1994. JohnMarch is a healthcare search consultancy with clients throughout the U.S. and United Arab Emirates.
Clients recognize Mr. Self for his ability to consistently find top leaders who deliver lasting value. He is also recognized for his innovative approach to executive search, including the use of video summaries of his interviews with candidates.
He is Immediate Past President of ACHE of North Texas Chapter, one of the largest of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He is a member of the Regent’s Advisory Council. He is a frequent lecturer on career brand management, leadership values and development.
A former investigative reporter and crime writer, he is one of the only executive recruiters with this unique background and experience.
IN 1976 Mr. Self joined Houston's Hermann Hospital. He led the implementation of Life Flight helicopter system. As a former national marketing manager with Rocky Mountain Helicopters, Mr. Self implemented another 14 helicopter ambulance programs.
He also worked in acquisitions for LifeMark Hospitals. As Senior Vice President of Business Development for Hermann Affiliated Hospitals, he helped build a network of more than 45 managed and afffiliated hospitals.
From 1990 to 1994, Mr. Self served as Special Projects Manager for ETMC Regional Healthcare System, a nine hospital system based in Tyler, TX. During his tenure, Mr. Self ran a successful home infusion pharmacy business, correctional health clinics, East Texas EMS, one of the state's largest private ambulance providers, and an international recruitment company that specialized in recruiting nurses, physical and occupational therapists from Canada, the Philippines, Australia and South Africa.
His diverse experience across the spectrum of healthcare operations and marketing enables Mr. Self to deliver to his clients a unique blend of value-added insight.
Directing C-suite, executive and management searches for health systems, hospitals and other health service providers. He is experienced in leading searches for public corporations, investor-owned corporations and not-for-profit organizations, including Catholic health and academic medical centers. He specializes in leading C-suite searches for complex public/tax-supported organizations.

During Mr. Self's tenure, East Texas EMS operated 50 ambulances in a 14-country area, responding to more than 45,000 911 and transfer calls per year. During his tenure, East Texas EMS was selected Private Provider of the Year by the Texas Department of Health. Mr. Self oversaw a major system restructuring and the development and construction of a state-of-the-art operations center. He played a key role in selecting his successor who continues as the CEO of this now multi-state provider of EMS services.
