John Kreicbergs’s Summary
I help lead and develop digital and interactive strategy for both individual projects and ongoing campaigns, working within integrated marketing and advertising organizations to craft smart solutions and engaging creative on behalf of my clients.
Though originally a son of the Windy City and apart from a few collegiate adventures around the Midwest and cheery old England, I’ve called Kansas City home since I was 11 months old. I somehow successfully survived my childhood and adolesence roaming the wilds of the Central Plains and have come to regard myself as a Midwestern boy through and through. When it comes to my musical interests, I credit the eclectic tastes of my parents — reflected in their extensive collection of 45s and LPs — as my earliest introduction to music. The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, the Temptations, Frank Sinatra, the Modern Jazz Quartet, and Tchaikovsky were my earliest initiation into what has become a lifelong passion.
After earning a Bachelor of Arts in music and a Bachelor of Music in clarinet performance from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, I later attended Northwestern University in Evanston, IL, where I received a Master of Music in musicology. While my musicological interests run the gamut of styles, I found a particularly strong attraction and personal connection to the music of Soviet-era Russian composers as well as an academically fatal affinity for pop culture.
As a freelance writer, I've had reviews and write-ups appear in such national music publications as "Down Beat" and entertainment-based alt-weeklies like "The Pitch" (Kansas City), the "Riverfront Times" (St. Louis), "The Westword" (Denver), the "Houston Press," the "Cleveland Scene," and the "New Times" (Broward/Palm Beach).
These days I like to use my musical skills to keep my clients and internal teams in tune, on time and marching to the same beat.
