My achievements to date within a Volunteer capacity, over the last number of years, time management and prioritising items were a prerequisite for a fulfilling the roles I was in. Within the History Society in the University of Limerick in 2006, I was the Co-Curator of a 22,000EUR exhibition whilst also being the team-leader for the organisation of a Major Irish Historical Conference, which happened at the same time. Both of these particular roles required a certain amount of adaptability with dealing with emergencies as they arose but also a major attention to detail to ensure the smooth running of both the Conference and the Exhibition. I am also very proud to have been involved in the establishment of a Search and Rescue Unit in my home town in 2001, which has now gained Coast Guard status and is the only inland Coast Guard unit on the island of Ireland.
Within an Academic setting, I have attained research and analytical skills namely for Essays, Conference Proceedings & Journalistic articles. In my final year in the University of Limerick I completed a 15,000 word Historical thesis on an aspect of Limerick's history, which required the use of various sources namely the City and County Archives and the libraries in UL and Mary Immaculate College, Limerick.
