After nearly 20 years of traditional newspapering, I moved into the digital world two years ago as the editor responsible for expanding The Star-Ledger's presence on the Web and finding new ways of gathering and distributing local news and information. Key projects have included building and managing a continuous news desk and training a staff of 330 in blogging, video and other multimedia skills; developing hyperlocal sites in Morristown and Newark; establishing the pharmaceutical industry niche site Pharmalot.com; creating the video aggregation site TVJersey.com; and, most recently, launching Ledger Live, a noon vodcast that showcases the newspaper's video journalism as well as contributions from bloggers across New Jersey.
