Vice President and General Manager
UnsubCentral
Privately Held; 11-50 employees; Marketing and Advertising industry
May 2006 – October 2008 (2 years 6 months)
I was responsible for leading all aspects of business as the general manager with full P&L responsibility. I grew UnsubCentral revenues 10x over 2.5 years while increasing margin the entire time with the help of a dedicated team of great people. As the company grew, I grew the staff from 3 to 15 during my tenure. I also positioned UnsubCentral as a thought-leader in the industry, helping author major shifts in how email suppression lists, required for compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, are used by the industry through our memberships in the ESPC and the IAB. I spoke on UnsubCentral's behalf at numerous events including Affiliate Summit, MAAWG, AOTA, EEC events, AustinIMA, DFWIMA, etc. Lastly, I had a blast building a great team and a great company. Easily my favorite "job" ever, well, except for maybe when I was getting to shoot big bullets out of a tank when I was in the Army.

Online Sales Manager

Directly managed and led 3 online sales executives in selling online advertising on a top 50 market newspaper website. Also taught internet sales concepts to 50+ print sales executives, while building a cohesive environment for team sales efforts with the executive staff. Doubled revenues.
Co-founder
MarketingFix.com
November 2002 – June 2003 (8 months) International
MarketingFix.com was an online advertising news aggregator. Founded with some amazing partners: Rick Bruner, Internet Marketing Extraordinaire; Steve Hall, founder of AdRants.com; Olivier Travers, founder of Scifan.com and many other internet publications; and Robert Loch, entrepreneur and startup guy based on London. We published the site for about 7 months before selling it to Andy Bourland, 1/2 of the founding team of of ClickZ. MarketingFix.com went on to become MarketingVox.com, one of the leading internet marketing trade pubs on the 'net, under the leadership of Tig Tillinghast and team. What a great experience to get to "found" my first startup with such a great group of guys, and to hand it off and have someone turn it into something even greater.

Coolest job I've ever had. I was an Armor Officer, with responsibilities ranging from training, feeding, caring for, and leading a dynamic group of individuals in preparation for the defense of our country. I got paid to shoot 120mm bullet at targets 2 miles away from a 70 ton mobile platform... and got to work with some of the best people I've ever worked with.
