John Callan's Summary
I am the Founder and President of SpaceHelpWanted.com, the premier job search destination for employers and job candidates in the New Space Industry.
I enjoy business, technology and connecting people from many countries and cultures, which explains why I have more than 60 pages of visa stamps in my passport. As a business reporter and editor, and then a business owner and corporate IT leader, I have recruiting and managed teams in 25 countries from the US and Latin America, to Eastern Europe, China, India and Japan.
I have lived outside the United States twice, most recently in the UK from 2004-2006. Earlier in my career, I lived in Hungary in the early 1990s, just after the Iron Curtain fell. There, in the capital city of Budapest, I founded an English language weekly business newspaper, The Budapest Business Journal, which is still publishing today.
I crossed over from journalist to technologist at Microsoft, where I worked for 15 years. My first big job there was as World News editor and one of the founders of MSNBC.com. I later became the Global Service Manager of all of Microsoft's Sales support outside the United Sates. While starting support centers in Poland, Mexico, India and in China, I reported to C-level executives in many countries, implemented technology upgrade and training programs, business improvement programs and career development plans which improved service quality, employee morale, and the respect of workers for each other.
I am now working hard to bring that workforce transition experience to the aide of the Space Industry.
