A technologist with a knack for just "making it work" for business and a passion for getting the most out of my team members.
I have extensive experience building software development teams, able to use my technical, process and people management expertise to engineer an environment that fosters high-performance.
I come from a Computer Systems Engineering background having learned to work independently in my early freelance days. This strong technical independence has been re-enforced through my contributions to the open-source community over my development career.
Early on I discovered a passion for management which started with consulting positions focusing on project management but has then blossomed more deeply into people management and high-performance team leading with a dash of business discipline.

I was promoted to Senior Program Manager in the technology and development department of ninemsn, responsible for servicing both the creative services team, nine pixels, and the mobile marketing team, 5th Finger. nine pixels and 5th Finger both work directly and indirectly with clients delivering content integration and interactive cross-media solutions, with 5th Finger focusing on the mobile market.
As a Senior Program Manager I was responsible for managing the development team and all technical aspects of project delivery, constantly in direct contact with the clients and third party vendors. I was also responsible for the technical and operational direction of the greater nine pixels campaign team, having had to nurture the adoption and ongoing use of applicable project management and software development methodologies and implement effective process management.

October 2005 — July 2006 (10 months)
My main focus at Epicor was to manage implementation projects for Epicor’s clients while still maintaining a technical and hands on role. Epicor used a signature Project Management methodology based on PMI to manage its implementation projects. As a Senior Consultant at Epicor I was in direct contact with high stakes clients, often delivering projects on site and managing the entire implementation team.

November 2001 — September 2005 (3 years 11 months)
Initially brought across as a Systems Architect to build an in-house project accounting and client management system, I ended up working in a role more akin to Technical Lead than just a Systems Architect.
As with most in-house systems the development phase of the project did have to come to an end, which is the main reason I chose to move on.
