John Bouantoun’s Summary

An avid Technologist with a love for finding the end-to-end solution, and a passion for getting the most out of my team members.

I have extensive experience building small-to-medium software development teams and processes covering the entire software development life-cycle, from new employee mentoring to setting up integrated project management and source code repository systems using open source tool-chains to deployment process mapping.

I come from a Computer Systems Engineering background having learned to work independently in my early freelance days. This strong technical independence has been re-enforced through my contributions to the open-source community over my development career.

I have since discovered a passion for management which started with consulting positions focusing solely on project management but have since developed further into people management.

John Bouantoun’s Experience

  • Program Manager

    ninemsn

    (Information Technology and Services industry)

    December 2006Present (1 year 6 months)

I am currently a Program Manager in the technology and development department of ninemsn, responsible for servicing the creative services team, ninepixels. ninepixels works directly and indirectly with clients delivering content integration and interactive cross-media solutions.

As a Program Manager I am responsible for managing the ninepixels development team and all technical aspects of projects delivered, constantly in direct contact with the clients and third party vendors. I am also responsible for the technical and operational direction of the greater ninepixels team, having had to nurture the adoption and ongoing use of applicable project management and software development methodolgies, implement effective process management and ensure the effective delivery of projects utilising the existing development framework and technologies.

  • Contract Systems Architect / Tech lead

    RogenSi

(Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Professional Training & Coaching industry)

    July 2006December 2006 (6 months)

My main focus while at Rogen this second time was to re-invigorate the development team, enhance the CCMS and related systems (mentioned below) and extend them to accommodate functionality available in the a newly merged company’s systems.

  • Senior Consultant

    Epicor

(Public Company; 1001-5000 employees; EPIC; Computer Software industry)

    October 2005July 2006 (10 months)

My main focus at Epicor was to manage implementation projects for Epicor’s clients while still maintaining a technical and hands on role. Epicor used a signature Project Management methodology based on PMI to manage its implementation projects. As a Senior Consultant at Epicor I was in direct contact with high stakes clients, often delivering projects on site and managing the entire implementation team.

  • Systems Architect / Tech Lead

    RogenSi

(Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Professional Training & Coaching industry)

    November 2001September 2005 (3 years 11 months)

Initially brought across as a Systems Architect to build an in-house project accounting and client management system, I ended up working in a role more akin to Technical Lead than just a Systems Architect.

As with most in-house systems the development phase of the project did have to come to an end, which is the main reason I chose to move on.
