Joel Don's Summary

I started Comm Strategies in 1991, a public relations, social media and content marketing consultancy. Formally trained as a journalist, I have worked for newspapers and magazines throughout the country. Before starting my own shop, I worked for several PR agencies, served as a public information officer at UCLA and UC Irvine and directed business and financial communications at a Fortune 500 computer manufacturer. My PR and social media experience covers B2B and B2C sectors, from global computer companies to a variety of vertical industries and emerging start-up companies. My work has included promoting industrial automation hardware and software products, consumer electronics products and accessories, IT services, computer outsourcing, basic research and applied technology solutions for academic institutions, biomedical products, and a variety of technology services sectors. In 2000, I launched a startup company that developed a digital solution for measuring the readership of company news prior to the advent of today’s link-tracking systems. Most recently, I developed a PC app for the PR industry to track time and projects as well as produce narrative-style reports that pass the client "What-am-I-paying-for?" test.
