Joe has over 20 years experiencein the practice of personal injury, with special focus on serious injuries and wrongful death.
Joe enjoys helping injured people and their families to secure just and fair compensation. He has been quite successful since his very first trial, when a Hennepin County jury awarded six times what the insurance company had offered. Since then, he has won the largest verdict in Minnesota for a shoulder injury ($325,000), and, with Jim Schwebel of Schwebel, Goetz & Sieben, the largest award in Minnesota for an ankle injury ($461,000). He was recently able to conclude the largest motorcycle injury settlement in Minnesota, for $1.5 million.
Joe not only knows the law, he teaches it! In addition to the "Practice Pointers" column that he authors for Minnesota Trial Lawyer Magazine, Joe has written many articles relating to No-Fault and Personal Injury. He regularly teaches lawyers, doctors and lay people. He has organized and taught numerous programs in Auto Accident Law and Trial Strategy for the Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association and the Minnesota Institute of Legal Education. He has also taught classes in No-Fault Auto Insurance Law at William Mitchell College of Law.

My wife and I have four teenage kids, and they're the most important part of our lives away from work. They're all very good students, and very athletic, so we spend a lot of time at soccer fields and in hockey rinks. I've enjoyed coaching them in the past, but now I'm just a spectator. Between helping injured people, and spending time with my family, my golf game has suffered. I suppose there will be more time to golf when they're older.
