Justin Nicolette's Summary

Tenured member of the senior leadership team at Taylor with many years of proven brand and consumer marketing experience. I'm formally trained in public relations and hold a deep understanding of the entire marketing mix.

As a vice president, I am responsible for planning, developing, and directing award-winning external marketing communications and social influence programs for some of the world's largest brands. I'm also responsible for the management, growth, and development of a core team.

Why I do it: I like fast-paced environments and other smart people, I'm slightly obsessed with success (e.g. I bought and learned to ride a motorcycle to better understand riders), I'm entrepreneurial, and I've got some really big goals.

Oh, and now I'm addicted to riding motorcycles.

Justin Nicolette's Experience

Vice President

Taylor

Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Public Relations and Communications industry

July 2012Present (2 years 4 months) Charlotte, North Carolina Area

I'm currently responsible for:

• The development and orchestration of marketing communications strategies and campaigns built to build brands, social influence, and positive perception
• Clarifying existing strategic direction of client communications efforts
• Ensuring the right people are in place to execute said strategies and campaigns
• Providing proactive counsel to senior leaders and liaise between agency / client
• Shaping a high-performance agency culture and nurturing junior staff along the professional development path
• Business development / new business support

A few notable highlights: Recently directed an incredible team on the comprehensive PR and social influence component of a wildly successful marketing campaign surrounding Super Bowl XLVIII. Forbes.com described the program as “thinking outside the box”; Branding Personality gave “two thumbs up for curating one of the most highly creative Super Bowl marketing campaigns to date”; Commerce Kitchen noted “It’s brilliant.” “It’s fun.”

Developed and directed a award-winning, Federally-recognized advocacy campaign that ultimately demonstrated a change in motorcyclists’ perception of my client; this strategic approach - currently active for more than half a decade - continues to prove effective and now influences the entire marketing mix, including creative development.

At Taylor, I'm fortunate to work with some very smart folks from leading brands, such as: Nike Jordan, Verizon, Allstate, Amazon, BRP (Evinrude, Can-Am (Spyder and ATVs), Sea-Doo, and Ski-Doo), Dockers San Francisco, Gillette, Microsoft, Crown Royal, Duofold, NASCAR, and others.

Account Director

Taylor

Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Public Relations and Communications industry

January 2011June 2012 (1 year 6 months) Charlotte, North Carolina Area

Responsible for the development and direction of award-winning marketing communications campaigns and account teams built to support global brands in various categories. Additional responsibilities include: refining strategy, mentoring junior staff, and building the greater business.

Account Supervisor / Senior Account Supervisor

Taylor

Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Public Relations and Communications industry

July 2007December 2010 (3 years 6 months) Charlotte, North Carolina Area

During my time in these two positions, my focus shifted from execution early on to teaching others how to execute. Looking toward the new responsibility of management, I began providing general oversight of tactical activations and best practices in order to nurture those around me. I also started to develop strategically, building fully integrated marketing communications plans for client partners, including core strategy and creative tactical recommendations rooted in deep consumer insights.

Senior Account Executive

Alan Taylor Communications

Privately Held; 51-200 employees; Public Relations and Communications industry

July 2005June 2007 (2 years) Charlotte, North Carolina Area

After making the transition to this mid-sized agency, I was empowered by this challenging work environment, pushed to excel tactically, and play up on a daily basis.

With the opportunity to work with clients that are global leading brands, my tactical experiences were diverse and many.

Execution focuses included, but were not limited to: general media relations (national, regional, local), PR news / press material and key message development, in-market event activations, media tour prep / facilitation (satellite / radio / in-studio), digital content creation, measurement & evaluation, and much more.

Account Executive

GolinHarris

Public Company; 501-1000 employees; IPG; Public Relations and Communications industry

January 2005August 2005 (8 months)

I knew that if I wanted to excel in this discipline, I would need quality experience from an agency. GolinHarris was my first foray into agency life.

While there, I worked with brands such as McDonald’s, N.A.S.A., and Capital One; developed a solid skills foundation in tactical PR; learned how to survive the agency world.

Marketing / Public Relations Specialist, Advertising Assistant

Century 21 Sweyer & Associates

Privately Held; 201-500 employees; Real Estate industry

April 2002December 2004 (2 years 9 months) Wilmington, North Carolina Area

This was my first professional marketing job post college. In essence, I worked for an agency and 90 small businesses (Realtors), as the Advertising Director’s assistant / Marketing Specialist. I learned so much in this environment and from those with whom I worked.

During my time here, I helped develop marketing strategies for 90+ Realtors, as well as the agency itself; developed and led the execution of the company’s first not-for-profit foundation; handled light graphic design and desktop publishing, ad layout / sales, and other in-house marketing duties.

I owe a lot to the folks at this organization. I learned something from each of them every day and appreciate the foundation the career they helped me create.
