Media Production Creative Director, Language Consultant
Japan
At 16, I formed a band in my hometown of Alpena, MI. At 18, I relocated from Alpena to Grand Rapids, MI where I worked with "Herman Miller for the Home," a subsidiary of Herman Miller. By day I interacted with photographers, marketing specialists and design consultants, while at night I would drive from Grand Rapids to Detroit to perform live music.
From 2000 to 2003 I attended Grand Valley State University and received my Liberal Studies BA. While studying, I continued to make music and play live while making short films with a production team that I formed called "The Cannibal Network." My thesis was entitled, "Sartorial Phenomenology."
After graduation I moved to South Korea and taught English. While there I recorded and professionally produced an album. I then relocated to Ibaraki, Japan to continue teaching English. While in Japan, I began teaching at a public elementary school, but was soon offered a job at a private girls high school, which I continue to be a part of. Also, for one year I was an ICT (Independently Contracted Trainer) giving presentations and providing fellow educators with consultation. In addition, I was contacted by Masahiro Morioka of The University of Osaka Prefecture to translate his book "Kanjinai Otoko."
Finally, I have been making "noise" music and have recorded many albums collaborating with performers from around the world and releasing albums on various small labels and have performed live twice in Tokyo.
At this point, I wish to collaborate in potential business and research ventures in Japan and/or relating to media studies, PR, design, web 2.0 or fashion.
