Jean-François De Rico specializes in commercial litigation, professional liability as well as bankruptcy and insolvency law. He was involved in reorganizations and restructurings made in virtue of the CCAA, both for debtor companies and financial institutions and regularly acts on behalf of businesses, financial institutions, professionals and insurers before arbitration tribunals, trial and appeal courts.
He also assists businesses on various aspects of their activities including commercial agreements, compliance and more specifically on the impacts and legal obligations pertaining to the use of IT in business operations in regards to issues like records retention/management, and personal information protection. He has a particular interest in e-discovery and the use and advantages of IT in the practice of law.
He is a member of The Sedona Conference working group 7, and of the Media, Information and Intellectual Property Section of the Canadian Bar Association (Quebec chapter) and a frequent speaker on law and technology issues.
