My time in graduate school was spent working as a recruiter for my program. I worked with the Vice President for Student Affairs and many other student affairs professionals to find exciting and interactive ways to interest students in graduate school, specifically our program in Higher Education. I worked with editing and distributing promotional materials, organizing socials and professional development opportunities for current students, organizing the GRA Interview Weekend , and much more.
I chose to intern as a Career Counselor in the Career Services Office during my second year. My ultimate goal is to become an expert in the field of Career Services in Higher Education. I am truly passionate about assisting students in meeting their career goals and have the intelligence and professional presence to interact with employers on a regular basis.
Professionally, I am guided by the following theories. In Career Development I follow Parsons, Holland, and Ginzberg. In Student Development I lean toward Astin and Schlossberg. My Counseling theory is developed around Carl Rogers and Albert Ellis.
Admissions recruiting, editing materials, career counseling, resume/cover letter reviews, presentations, assessing interest inventories, mock interviews, event planning, scheduling meetings and events, maintaining relationships, etc...
