Experienced Marketing, Advertising Sales Executive
British Columbia, Canada
After finishing a psychology degree at UVic, I gathered a range of experiences in the Social Service Sector as a Child and Youth Counselor. I felt good about the work I was doing, but there were other things I wanted to accomplish and create with my life.
The first phase on my path to becoming an entrepreneur was a Masters in Consumer Psychology at the University of Wales. The second phase consisted of working a few horrible sales jobs in a range of industries, which taught me how to take the theory I learned from from my Masters and use the knowledge in a practical way to help business owners in the real world. I made money by helping business owners make money by using tried and tested sales, advertising and marketing techniques. Once I knew that I could help small business I entered the third phase. I started my own business (Alter Ego Marketing Group), which is a web based marketing agency.
Something else you should know about me is that I've been been interested in politics since I was 12. I know this because that year I gave a speech to my elementary school about the perils of the federal debt and deficit. I've been actively involved with a political party since 2004 and recently I was a Candidate in the 2009 BC Provincial election. The learning, both personal and professional that came out of that experience is too enormous to list here. I consider myself a moderate. I think that communication and cooperation are at the heart of most successful ventures.
You might like to know that I am a member of the Saanich Significant Tree Advisory Committee and the Royal Victoria Marathon Planning Committee; the CEO of Alter-Ego Marketing Group; a counselor at a children's hospital, a teacher at UVic; a shop steward for my union; and a MBA mentor. I put my soul into my commitments and I choose them carefully.
I want to add positively to our world. Reach out if you do too!
