Jeremy M. Kissel's Summary

I am a Chicago-based attorney with broad experience handling transactional, litigation, compliance, regulatory, and public policy matters. I am interested in legal issues related to new and traditional media, telecommunications, advertising and marketing, information privacy, cloud computing, mobile applications, social media, e-commerce, and emerging technologies.

Previously, I assisted companies with regulatory compliance, commercial transactions, and represented clients before the Federal Communications Commission. I also served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Policy Division of the Federal Communications Commission’s Media Bureau. Prior to that, I served as Acting Legal Advisor to the Chief of the Media Bureau. The Media Bureau develops, recommends, and administers the policy and licensing programs relating to electronic media in the United States. This includes cable television, broadcast television, and radio. The Media Bureau also handles post-licensing matters as they relate to Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) service.

Prior to joining the Commission, I obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree in Law & Government from American University’s Washington College of Law. I also worked for the Majority Policy Committee of the United States Senate in Washington, D.C. From 2003 to 2006 I was a litigator in Miami, Florida, concentrating on insurance defense, insurance coverage, and bad faith matters.

Additionally, I founded and manage the Chicago Young Professionals (5,300+ members) and Washington, D.C. Young Professionals (4,900+ members) LinkedIn Groups.

Bar Admissions: Florida (2003), District of Columbia (2006), Illinois (2009).
