Austin, Texas Area
I wear a few (complementary) hats. I a communications pro with over 18 years of experience working with start-ups, authors, non-profits, entrepreneurs and Fortune 500 companies. I am also a freelance writer, blogger, screenwriter and producer whose media company, Soul Lab Media, focuses on bringing entertaining, inspiring and cool content to the world.
I teach small to medium-sized businesses/individuals on how to use Web 2.0 tools, including blogging, to grow business and offset the cost of traditional marketing and PR methods. Along with colleague Nettie Hartsock, we operate "B" is for Blog, LLC and conduct classes. I am a media trainer preparing spokespeople for interviews.
In 1999, as President of Jennifer Hill Public Relations (JHPR) located in downtown Austin, I landed over 35 accounts in a two-year period including Clark Wilson Homes, Fine Line Features, Girlstart and the Texas Book Festival. In 2001, JHPR was acquired by GCI Read-Poland, Texas’ oldest public relations firm. In March 2002 I started Hoopla where I worked with a variety of clients including Alliance Abroad Group, Anthony Nak Fine Jewelry, House of Tutors, Meringue Design, etc.
From 2003-2007 I put Hoopla on hold working as the PR Manager for the UTexas Performing Arts Center, then as a Sr. Public Relations Rep for Advanced Micro Devices (AMD)—Intel’s primary competitor.
At AMD I oversaw the PR measurement and analysis program. I also lead the broadcast communications program and was the liaison for video news releases and b-roll packages for national/international distribution. I was also brought in for special projects with International and Internal Communications, and Digital Media & Entertainment.
I have secured media coverage for clients in media outlets including The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Dallas Morning News, The Hollywood Reporter, Glamour, Good Morning America, Cosmo Girl, CNN, The Boston Globe, The New York Times, Newsweek and The Wall Street Journal.
