In 2007, I began connecting my political science major at Fairfield University and my passionate support for environmental causes. I took courses in International Environmental Policy, Environmental Economics, and International Relations on campus, and held research and extracurricular positions to learn about green policy from as many angles as possible.
I studied abroad in the Turks and Caicos at the School for Field Studies Center for Resource Management in the spring of 2008. I was able to perform hands-on field research (biological and social data collection) directly affecting TCI fisheries policy by working with local Belongers and my fellow SFS students. That summer, I was granted a fellowship in the Marine Policy Department of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. I wrote a paper entitled “The market as an institution for zoning the ocean” with Dr. Porter Hoagland, and was one of three students selected to present my work at the San Francisco AGU Conference in December 2008.
I have excellent research (online, print, interviewing) and presentation (including designing PowerPoints and public speaking) skills, as well as the ability to keep very organized while handling multiple projects.
