Provided all aspects of design and support for an in-vehicle telematics GPS based multi-media system. Support $330,000 initial contract. This was a PC/104 based embedded windows computer that was used in transit buses to log vehicle data, control multi-media passenger signage, control audio announcements and other vehicle functions. Operation was keyed off of GPS and situational data. Designed 2.5 GHz Alfred slot antenna. Interfaced J1708 to vehicle data computer. Designed ruggedized vehicle power supply/audio amplifier using buck regulators and PIC16C621 microprocessor with J1708 interface. Wrote serial drivers to decode Trimble GPS TSIP protocol and derive PVT from coordinate based XYZ positions. Wrote passenger sign interface for VULTON 'DigiDot' transit sign using IBM assembly and Borland Delphi. Wrote video interface using Microsoft Video for Windows. Wrote program for use with fluxgate compass to determine vehicle heading.
