For the Nebraska branch, Intrastar Inc. obtained the contract to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support a replacement for the legacy system with a state of the art Microsoft solution (C#, ASP.Net, WinForms, SQL Server, BI, SSIS, SSRS, and SOA). This contract required hiring and managing a team of 10. Reported to the COO.
► Successfully delivered the solution on budget where two previous multi-year projects had failed.
► New application heralded as a complete success and changed month end processing from a 24 hour nightmare into a 45 minute process. Year end processing improved from 2-3 days to around an hour. Office productivity improved from 100% - 3600%

► Reduced staff by 75% by utilizing advanced management tools and optimizing IT.

► The only contractor granted architect status. The other two architects were full-time staff of FreeMarkets.
► Item Management team was the only team that was ahead of project deadlines and was thus assigned to help other teams by building core components that everyone would then utilize.

Scope of responsibilities included the design and oversight of 8 developers implementing a Foreign Exchange trading system. The system is composed of twelve modules from order entry and execution, to back office functionality. Reported to the CIO.
► Actively managed the Microsoft relationship gaining direct access to many resources and personnel. Because we were selected as one of a handful of companies as a test case for .Net, SQL, and IIS we were even invited to a kickoff meeting with Bill Gates himself.
► Benchmarks of this C# .Net solution at Microsoft demonstrated the Scalability and Performance in excess of anything previously seen. The application showed that it could handle all foreign exchange traffic in the world.
► Validated that the system would integrate with Deutsche Bank by traveling to London and walking their IT group through our system. This paved the way for further negotiations with the #1 currency trading bank in the world.

This position was primarily focused on managing the Server Architecture Team and coordinating with the project office and the other team leads on this project that had over 170 people working on it. The end client, Cincinnati Financial Corporation, is a multi-billion dollar insurance company with over 3,000 employees that needed to update their entire commercial insurance business.
► By forcing key issues to be dealt with by building consensus and escalating when necessary the project was saved from a number of disastrous choices. The ability to successfully navigate the hostile politics and achieve consensus was demonstrated many times.
► Because the system successfully demonstrated architectural solutions created by the Server Architecture Team those components were approved for corporate wide re-use.
