Jeff Block’s Summary
I have been in IT consulting for 15 years, working at Crowe Chizek (big-ten consulting firm), Bauhaus Technologies (small 25-person shop), and BEA Systems (international software giant). In this time, I have offered enterprise consulting services to dozens of clients in various industries using many technologies. Some of my more noteworthy clients have been McDonalds, the Trane Company, Ford, GM, GE Medical, MasterCard, Northern Trust Bank, Merial Limited, and many others.
In 2002, I moved from consulting to education within BEA, and served on a 7-person team responsible for internal training for the 3000+ employee company worldwide. I was responsible for the central region of the US. Our team trained consultants, sales engineers, technical support staff, and so on -- anyone charged with interacting with customers on a technical level went through us first to learn the technology.
After 4 years training, I left BEA to help build a startup company called Capable Networks. Capable builds online communities as marketing tools for CE manufacturers. I served there as the VP of Community Development, where I contributed significantly to their software platform, co-invented (with the CTO) a patent-pending Intelligent Scoring process and engine, built and managed the editorial department, and maintaining oversight over the company's entire network of online communities.
I left Capable Networks in 2008 to return to my technical / consulting roots, and am now a Principal Consultant at Capstone Consulting, where I serve as the Practice Director of the Business Intelligence practice. At Capstone, I am focusing primarily on BI / EDW work, strategic IT consulting, and new business development in the Chicago area.
In a broad sense, my goals are mostly entrepreneurial in nature -- to build, promote and support business with technology, innovation, hard work, and sound business strategy.
