The artwork of Jean Bourque has been shown nationally and internationally. Bourque art is in collections in the Netherlands, Germany, England and in many states in the US as well as Mexico and Canada. Her artwork often features bright lively canvases with large strokes ranging from a minimalist approach to a layered look.
A true mixed media artist, her work is known for its large scale unique look at the world with many layers and multiple mediums on various materials. Her abstract paintings usually have pastels and or charcoal as well as acrylics or oil paint. Many of them have bits and pieces from other paintings, interesting textures created using various tools, papers, fabrics, found objects and mediums. Give her a few unrelated items and next thing you know they will work together and be something unique. She states she loves assemblage and fiberarts as much as painting. She has restored and recreated fine furnishings as well as one of a kind book arts known as Altered books. She did a 10 ft Steel Palm Tree with an op art design and has studied with many international artists including over 10 years with Ilona Royce Smithken of NYC. She has trained in Feng Shui and Faux Finishing as well as graphic and web design. Bourque states; "From the delicate to the sturdy, I love the creative process." -

Besides my well known interest in art and writing, I am a life long learner and am always dabbling in some new endeavor. I have been trained in Feng Shui, am currently studying alternative health, nutritional supplements, herbs, TCM and Tai Chi. The arts in every form, writing, blogging, painting, listening to music, attending live performances in theater, ballet, music and spoken word plus social networking are my favorite things to do.
