Sadly, over 25 years in IT, starting in hardware moving on to assembler, C, C++ and then Java.
I started contracting in '87, mostly in wholesale banking, over 10 years was spent abroad (from the UK), including Hong Kong, USA (Washington D.C.) Germany, Switzerland, France, Sweden, Denmark and even Luxembourg.
I moved back to the UK in 1998 and started Century 24 (C24) with 3 others in July 2000. C24 is now around 30 strong, we are a product company and specialise in financial services integration. Our product "Integration Objects" (IO) is a Java binding tool that supports SWIFT (ISO-20022), FpML, TWIST, TRAX2 etc. We have clients like JPMorgan, CitiGroup, BGI, the Fed., LCH, the LSE and many others. We have been OEM'd by a number of horizontal and vertical vendors to enable their products to support high-performance integration, for example, BEA, PolarLake, IONA, GigaSpaces, Tangosol etc.
Please visit our web site for more information about what we do, it's pretty cool stuff. (http://www.c24.biz)
Other than day to day C24 stuff I've written 5 books for Wrox including J2EE, Java/XML, EJB etc. I was the author of Learning Tree's distributed Java course and the technical editor of their EJB course (when EJBs were still the rage).
I am a regular speaker at The ServerSide Symposiums, Java, SOA, WebServices and HPC on Wall St., IDC, JavaOne again this year and key speaker at the European ServerSide Java Symposium.
I have 3 wonderful sons (Luc 9, James 7 and Pierre 5) who take up most of my spare time.
Work: Java, High Performance Computing, Jini/JavaSpaces, Java-Binding technologies, Grid Fun: All of the above plus Photography, Classical Guitar, My 3 boys, Astronomy.
