For more than a decade, Jonathon D. Colman has designed, developed, and promoted web sites for large companies and nonprofits, including The Nature Conservancy, Conservation International, IBM and Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI).
His expertise lies in search engine optimization (SEO) and other measurable Internet marketing strategies – including the engagement of web 2.0 portals and social media communities to build buzz, support good causes and drive ROI.
Jonathon's web marketing strategy, leadership and ability to work as part of a strong team helped earn The Nature Conservancy two Webby Awards for "Best Charitable Organizations/Nonprofit Web Site" in the 13th Annual Webby Awards, including a People's Voice Webby Award.
Jonathon is an acclaimed public speaker at large conferences covering the leading edge of nonprofit technology, marketing, and fundraising. His past speaking engagements include the American Marketing Association Nonprofit Marketing Conference, the NTEN National Technology Conference, the Direct Marketing Association, the National Press Club in Washington, DC and other major venues.
Jonathon served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso, West Africa, where he lived in a small village performing rural health development work including education and health infrastructure capacity-building.
Jonathon graduated magna cum laude from the Scientific and Technical Communication program at Michigan Technological University. He has also pursued post-graduate study in human-computer interaction and user interface development at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
A runner, biker, treehugger, and EcoGeek, Jonathon D. Colman lives in Seattle, Washington with his wife, the glass artist Marja S. Huhta.
