As Director of Online Marketing for WorkSmart, I help our clients see where they are, where they want to be, how to get there and how to track it.
The first part of a marketing plan is getting your bearings and figuring out where you are right now. What are you spending your marketing money and resources on? What are you getting back for that? What are people doing when they get to your website or open that e-mail?
Next, where do you want to be? Are you happy with how your website is performing? Do you want more sales? More leads? More people signing up for your course or downloading your whitepaper?
Now how do you get there? Tweak your website or start from scratch? Does Facebook make sense to use for the people you're trying to reach with your business? What about Twitter? Have you considered online video?
Finally, are you tracking everything? Even in this digital age, it's surprising how many people aren't! I create easy to understand reports for my clients that show exactly how each piece of the marketing puzzle is performing, the affect of any changes we make and what's it all mean for their goals.
