Partner at Virtual Law Partners; Outsourced General Counsel; Corporate/Securities/Licensing Attorney
San Francisco Bay Area
I am a lawyer and work principally with two types of companies:
Early stage startups, where I help the founders to create new businesses, allocate equity among founders and document fundraising transactions from the angel and VC communities; and
Growth-stage and mature companies, where I work with busy legal departments on licensing, sales, development, marketing and other revenue-driving transactions.
My clients run the gamut from IT and web fields to restaurants, consumer products, service industries and many other types of companies. I love the consumer web, sustainability and the outdoor industries, but invariably it is the people who make my job interesting more than the industries.
In addition to my legal work I am a long-standing volunteer at the Cleantech Open business plan competition, I wrote numerous profiles of successful consumer internet companies at www.startupreview.com and I race bicycles on www.TeamRoaringMouse.com.
My online life:
I blog at http://blog.jparkhill.com
I twitter @park3
And I collect snippets from around the web relating to entrepreneurship, the legal industry, bicycles and other notable events at http://park3.posterous.com
My areas of speciality include licensing, development, sales and other commercial transactions; corporate governance; employment counseling; executive employment, M&A and general business counseling
